digital cameras: instant reminiscence

first we discovered magical glasses that somehow transformed each and every light into a snowman. don't ask, just be amazed.

then, we got back into the holiday spirit and opted for belated holiday pictures.

then, we decided to explore other cultures.

then, we grew mullets.

then, we got jiggy wid it.
then, we shmoozed.

simple things i enjoy

i'm avoiding homework right now, so i'm pondering on the random and simple things i enjoy in life. so that you can enjoy them too.
  • peeling oranges: i don't know why, but i'm completely obsessed. it's the most soothing and quieting process i've ever experienced...other than getting a massage or something.
  • reading the false promises on the back of hair care products and shampoo. we all know that the shampoo isn't really going to make your hair shiny enough to be visible from space, but it makes me feel hopeful nonetheless.
  • having multi-colored christmas lights up all year round. they're just so bright and cheery...
  • clean laundry. not only does it SMELL good, it feels good too!
  • my electric blanket (that i also use year round...i get cold easily!)
  • new school supplies. i don't particularly like using them for school, but they just look so pretty and pristine in their new and unused condition.
  • blue powerade. it's just so good.
  • shoes that have been worn in-- not ones that look brand new and white, but not disgustingly dirty ones either. shoes that look like they've been worn and loved and seen many adventures.
  • having a to-do list with everything crossed off of it.
  • waking up without an alarm and being able to lay quietly in bed for a little while before getting up.
  • walking home from campus with my iPod and not having to talk to anyone. it sounds anti-social i know, but sometimes i just like to chill with my own thoughts and tunes.
i'm sure there are other things...but i'm starting to feel kind of guilty about not writing my french lit paper. maybe guilty isn't the right word. it's probably more like "oh crap i just realized i really DO have to write that paper." as you can tell, coming to grips with reality is not one of my simple pleasures in life.

winter outrages

first, some background. this morning i woke up to 4+ inches of fresh, cold, powdery snow on the ground (plus more little flakes of satan floating down from the cloudy sky). and bitter cold. ok enough background.

so i'm walking on campus, and i see a guy. what is he wearing? he's wearing shorts. SHORTS. when i see people wearing shorts in the middle of a blizzard, i kind of want to punch them in the face. hence, i kind of wanted to punch this guy in the face.

i don't care if this guy was somehow mutated in his mother's womb to not feel the bitter cold, it's called dressing appropriately. it's the middle of winter, man. NOT the time for shorts. wait for spring like the rest of us commoners.

thus ends my rant.
